Autoclaving is the simplest sterilization method if all micropipette parts tolerate extreme heat. It is recommended to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for correct autoclaving. To sterilize a micropipette, follow the steps:
- To achieve sterility, a holding time of at least 20 minutes at 121°C (252°F) is required.
- You can use steam sterilization bags if necessary. After autoclaving, the micropipette must be cooled to room temperature for at least two hours.
- It is recommended to check the calibration of the instrument after each sterilization procedure to obtain the best accuracy and precision.
